France to make 11 vaccinations mandatory for kids

France has recently announced that starting in 2018, 11 vaccinations will now become mandatory, which will bring to 14 the number of vaccinations every French child must get.

The newest additions include pertussis, measles, mumps, and rubella.

Which is about as wise an attempt to limit the damage of these infections as any government can try to make.

Unless there is a very very strong medical case to be made for not vaccinating a child with a specific vaccine, I think that vaccinating one’s child this is an obligation all parents owe not only to their child – kids are still dying from these preventable infections – but to our collective good as well, that is, to protect those many kids who cannot get vaccinated for medical reasons.
