Measles in Canada: Out of bad, some real good

It’s all based on anecdotes, and anecdotes are notoriously unreliable, but news items are claiming that doctors around British Columbia are reporting that since the spate of measles cases that has erupted recently in BC has been so much in the news, many teens who had not been vaccinated against measles as young children have seen these news stories and are now coming in to get vaccinated against measles.

Which as a parent, I can easily believe since as soon as they can act for themselves, kids frequently choose to do precisely the opposite of what their parents had cautioned them to do, although in this situation, the kids are acting for themselves not out of spite but rather because they are smarter than their parents.

Bottom line: Whatever it takes to raise herd immunity against a potentially devastating disease is gonna be a good thing.
