Another link between good living and healthy eyes

So, what a surprise, eh: Yet another study has concluded that if you eat right, you have a much better chance of avoiding a specific health problem than if you eat an unhealthy diet.

In this case, the researchers were looking at the eye scourge known as age-related macular degeneration or AMD, which manifests itself by destroying retinal cells crucial for central vision and then working out to the periphery.

There is no way to correct this vision loss so the main effort has to go in to preventing it in the first place, and to that end, a study in the British Journal of Ophthamology has found that people who consume a so-called Western diet, namely one that is high in red and processed meat, fried food, refined grains and high-fat dairy, were up three times more likely to develop AMD than people who ate a healthier diet.

What more is there to say?
