According to a Global News report from back in October (sorry but I just saw it), Vancouver “city management received new merit-based pay hikes” which “kicked in Oct. 1” and which “applied to qualified exempt staff, such as managers and non-union workers.”
The pay hikes averaged, the report says, 4.8 %, which is just under the increase the city has now levied on property owners.
Apparently, “(m)erit increases are only applicable to staff members whose salary is below the maximum of the pay range and are based on meeting or exceeding performance expectations,” deputy city manager Paul Mochrie told Global News in a statement.”
Exceeding expectations in this incredible time?
How low were the expectations to begin with?
