Good news – sort of – if you suffer from an autoimmune disorder

Full disclosure: I am a celiac and I am always very wary of any report that an autoimmune disorder (AID) like mine might negatively impact my health even more than it does right now.

And during this COVID pandemic, I have, of couse, been very concerned that my AID might raise my risk of severe illness, since I already have multiple risk factors for more severe outcome: male, age (obviously), Type A blood, co-morbidities (so I don’t really need another one).

So it was very reassuring to learn that a new study looking at the role AIDs might play in COVID-19 has concluded that an AID does not raise the risk of either severity or death.

Now if they could just come up with something that would allow me to eat a normal pizza again, that would be just as good news.
