More strong proof that the first dose of a vaccine, in this case the Pfizer vaccine, offers strong protection for a few weeks out at least against infection.
The U.K.’s vaccination program reports that the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine reduced symptomatic infection risk among patients by 60-80%.
And this held true for both younger people – 65 % protection, and very important, older people over age 80 as well – 64 % protection.
And most probably, this rate will only improve once we can get 2nd shots into as many people as possible, too.
Get as many first shots into as many people as possible as quickly as possible – probably the best way to stop worrying about variants and spread of virus.
