If you have to spend time near a loud talker, you should take precautions

A lab-based study from American researchers has concluded that loud talking is more likely to spread viral particles than quieter talking.

According to these researchers’ conclusions in the journal, Nature, “speech is potentially of much greater concern than breathing for two reasons: the particles on average are larger, and thus could potentially carry a larger number of pathogens, and much greater quantities of particles are emitted compared to breathing, thus increasing the odds of infecting nearby susceptible individuals.”

As well,” simply talking in a loud voice would increase the rate at which an infected individual releases pathogen-laden particles into the air, which in turn would increase the probability of transmission to susceptible individuals nearby.”

Welcome news because if you ask me, the world can use much more quiet speech even if it wasn’t a health hazard to talk loudly.
