A sobering study about asymptomatic COVID-19 infections

To be perfectly blunt, no one really knows yet how many people who pick up a COVID-19 infection actually develop symptoms, although the usual best guesses are somewhere between 40 and 50 %.

Well, those best guesses might be very wrong.

According to a recent study on roughly 10,000 residents in Wuhan which was published in the BMJ, the researchers found that over 80% of Wuhan residents who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies had experienced no covid-19 symptoms.

That’s a staggering number of people out there who might be infected and not know it, which is why it’s so important for each of us to do everything we can to protect ourselves becoming infected, most often, it would seem, from a person who didn’t even know they were infected.
