Why everyone who gets COVID-19 has something to fear

Simple answer: You never know if you will be one of the unlucky ones to end up with “long COVID-19”.

And long COVID-19 not only makes you sick long-term, it also raises your risk of dying for months after the original infection.

That’s the conclusion from a huge study just published in the journal Nature, namely that long COVID-19 patients face a 59 % higher risk of dying up to 6 months after they catch the virus compared to people who didn’t get infected.

And if that’s not enough to convince you to try to stay safe and to get vaccinated ASAP, this report also concluded that long COVID-19 leads to “a high rate of stroke and other nervous system ailments; mental health problems such as depression; the onset of diabetes; heart disease and other coronary problems; diarrhea and digestive disorders; kidney disease; blood clots; joint pain; hair loss; and general fatigue.”

Bottom line: Stay safe. Get vaccinated ASAP. Don’t risk something you might regret for the rest of your life. Just not worth it.
