According to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) 6,789 Canadians have reported contracting COVID-19 after receiving a first dose, and although that sounds like bad news, it’s actually quite the opposite.
It’s brilliant news.
That’s because roughly 2/3 of those cases occurred within 14 days of the first vaccine dose, which is when we know that immunity is still very low, so in fact, only about 2000 people were infected after that 14-day post-first-dose time.
All of which means that among the nearly 14 million Canadians (as of this moment) who’ve received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, only 2000 have gone on to become infected, which is an amazingly low rate of infection.
The vaccines work.
