Who is more likely to spread a coronavirus infection in your home? Your toddler? Or your teen?

Your teen is more social and has way more social contacts, your teen probably is less careful to take all the necessary protections she should take to avoid getting infected, but your toddler is more likely to infect you than your teen is, should one of them bring a coronavirus infection home.

That’s the conclusion from a large study from Ontario that was just published in JAMA Pediatrics.

Or as the authors of the study put it, “younger children may be more likely to transmit SARS-CoV-2 infection compared with older children, and the highest odds of transmission was observed for children aged 0 to 3 years.”

Probably because it’s much harder for a parent or caregiver to separate themselves from a toddler than from a teen, who is anyway, likely to be very happy to avoid any extra exposure to you.
